There is so much power in the name of Jesus. That name in the mouth of a believer will drive away unclean spirits and heal the sick. With that name in your heart, you are granted a pathway to have a relationship with God the father. Through believing in Jesus and that He died for our sins, we can each be forgiven of every sin we have ever committed.
Romans 10:9 says that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved!!
If you have never met Jesus, then this is where we begin your journey.
Who IS Jesus??
In the beginning of time, God created the earth, and then He created one man and one woman to be in charge of (have dominion over) the earth. God placed the man and woman in the perfect garden and told them they could eat of any tree there accept 1. Eventually, these humans found themselves at this tree and a serpent (the devil) came along and challenged what God had instructed them. When man and woman Chose to give in to temptation and disobey Gods word, a domino affect took place. Immediately, through this single act, sin entered our world. With sin came death and disease and destruction. All the things God had been trying to protect us from. At the same time, in that very instant, the dominion over the earth that God had given to man passed to the devil! From that moment forward, every child born from the seed of man would inherit a sin nature, and man would always require atonement for sin in order to maintain a relationship with God, who absolutely can not interact with sin.
As the years and decades and centuries went by, human kind moved further and further away from God because of the temptation of sin. No amount of offering sacrifices was able to fully do away with sin, so truely reconnecting with God just wasn’t possible. God created us to be in relationship with Him, He wanted us with Him!
So, God Sent Jesus!
Jesus was conceived of the spirit of God. His mother was a virgin when she became pregnant with Him. In other words the seed of sin that had passed down from generation to generation through man was not part of the creation of Jesus. He was blameless, innocent and without sin. Jesus spent His life serving God in perfect obedience. The religious leaders of that time, who were stuck in the old ways of religion and tradition, hated the teachings of Jesus. Eventually, they crucified Jesus, not realizing they were actually providing the perfect sacrifice for the sin of all men. Three days later, Jesus rose from the dead and remained with His disciples for 40 days before returning to His seat at the right hand of God.
Jesus knew all along that He was being called to die for all of us. He did it gladly, because He loves us and wants us to be set free of the death of sin. Because He paid the ultimate cost, salvation (the forgiveness of sin and being rescued from eternity in hell) is free. We can not earn it by good works or being a good person. Salvation only comes by Gods grace, through our faith.
If all of this seems hard to believe, I understand. Right now, I ask God to just reveal Himself to you. Take some time, think about it. Close your eyes if that’s more comfortable to you. Out loud, just ask God if He is real. Wait and listen. When you feel that tug deep inside, that’s the love of God calling you to Him.
When you are ready to begin a relationship with God, and ask Jesus to come into your heart, simply speak out loud that you know you have not been living right and that sin has kept you separated from God, but you are sorry and you dont want to keep walking in your own ways. Tell God you believe that He sent Jesus to die for your sins and that He raised Him from the dead. Ask Him to come fill you with His Holy Spirit, and to help you obey Him for the rest of Your life, In the name of Jesus. Amen!
